Remedial

Remedial Massage is the most requested form of treatment by our clients. It is a holistic treatment involving the use of different massage techniques including soft/deep tissue manipulation, trigger point therapy, muscle energy techniques, and stretching to treat a condition.

Remedial massage can be helpful in treating specific areas of muscle tension caused by stress or injury. The therapy also helps to improve circulation of blood and lymphatic fluid around injured tissues to speed up the repair process. Remedial massage can be used for relaxation and a regular treatment (approx once a month) is a great way to maintain general balance and health of the soft tissues. The therapy has both short and long-term effects on the body.

If experiencing strong pain, it is recommended to first gain diagnosis for a health condition from an appropriate specialist such as a physio prior to visiting a remedial massage therapist. We are happy to offer referral advice to our recommended health professionals if needed.

Relaxation

Relaxation massage is a good choice for those looking for a feel-good, pampering massage. Perfect to help wind down after a big week at work or for those just feeling stressed.

Swedish massage techniques are used involving long slow strokes along the muscle fibres, gentle rolling and vibration techniques to relax the muscles along with the entire body and mind.

Pressure used during the massage can be altered to suit your needs but is typically light to medium for this style of treatment.

Cupping

Cupping is a technique found in traditional chinese medicine. The process involved attaching a plastic or glass cup to the skin using suction. This lightly draws the skin, fascia and superficial muscles up into the cup.

This technique is painless, and is very effective at increasing bloodflow to fascia and muscles close to the surface of the skin.

Cupping can also release fascia and muscle tension, aid drainage of the lymphatic system,  as well as release toxins that build up in the muscles.

Due to the suction, in some cases the skin may look red or bruised after a treatment. These marks result from the release of toxins in the cells, and usually fade in few days.

Note: this treatment is only available with Jared.

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic Drainage is a form of massage that stimulates the lymphatic system with gentle massaging strokes.

The lymphatic system is part of the body's defense system, and is used to transport immune cells to sites of infection, as well as transport waste away from these sites.

The effects of Lymphatic Drainage include aiding the immune system, clearing swollen joints and tissue, promotion of tissue healing and regeneration, as well as general benefits to the nervous and muscular systems.

The technique was invented by in the 1930s, and has become a standard techique taught to massage students around the world.
